Rachael Boulton Flannery

Rachael is a member of the Writers Guild of Ireland, writing for theatre, film, non-fiction and academic research.

Rachael also co-runs Fork Studio with her family, where she offers dramaturgy and script development informed by myth, symbolism, ecology and depth psychology.

Her writing has been published locally and internationally by Bloomsbury, JMI Canada and Fork. Originally trained in theatre, Rachael developed as a director with National Theatre Wales and National Theatre UK. Her work has been staged and performed across Wales, Bristol, London and New York, and has been recognised by publications including the The New York Times, The Stage and The New Yorker. Her projects have received support from Creu Cymru, Arts Council Wales, Wales Arts International, Arts Council England, the British Council and Screen Ireland.

Through Jungian and arts-based research, Rachael explores cultural narratives surrounding birth, miscarriage and maternal care, with a particular interest in women’s lived experiences, ritual and ecological approaches to healing. She holds a master’s degree in Art, Psyche and the Creative Imagination from Limerick School of Art and Design and is currently pursuing a PhD in the same faculty.

Her latest book, Notes On Birth For My Daughter, brings together art, hypnobirthing and depth psychology through accessible weekly rituals for pregnancy.
